Privacy Policy

This policy states Eastwork's commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, privacy and confidentiality of its clients and personnel.

In keeping with the requirements laid down in the Commonwealth Privacy Act (2002), the Health Records Act (2001) and the Disability Services (Improved Quality Assurance) Bill 2002, this policy outlines how we protect the rights of the people we work and do business with, and how we collect, use, secure, release and dispose of information we collect about them.

We promote a workplace culture of tolerance and respect, aimed at providing a service that is fair and equitable to all. We achieve and monitor this through:

- The respectful manner in which we interact with our clients and each other.
- Staff training in recognising, reporting and assisting people who have been abused.
- Our written Problem Handling and Corrective Action Procedure.
- Our pre-employment police checks on staff.
- Our established Service Entry Criteria (in Client Handbook)

Internal and external audit.
- Collaboration with clients in the development of their Employment Assistance Plan

We collect only personal information that is essential for us to engage staff, and provide an employment matching service to our clients. Every effort is made to ensure that the information we collect is accurate and up-to-date and is available to the individual on request. We achieve and monitor this through:

- Staff training and written work procedures.
- Employing staff under the conditions laid down in applicable awards.
- Reviewing and auditing files.
- Customer feedback.
The information we collect on an individual is used only for the purpose for which it is collected, is not discussed unnecessarily, and is disclosed only with the consent of the individual. We achieve and promulgate this through:

- Staff training, work procedures, and consent forms.
- Client Handbook.
- Records kept of what information is given out and to whom.
- A Problem handling procedure if breaches do occur.
The records we hold are stored in a secure manner, safe from loss or misuse, and are disposed of in accordance with our Documentation Procedure. We achieve this through:

- Holding personnel files in a locked filing cabinet.
- Storing back-up tapes in a fire proof safe.
- No personnel or clients files are removed from the office building.
- Destroying files by shredding.
- Written work procedures.
